Tough Day on a Tough Course for Lady Raiders

Posted Wednesday, August 29, 2012 by Jeremy Thornton

The Lady Raiders traveled to Louisville, Kentucky today to participate in the Bulliett East High School Tournament at Glenmary Country Club.  Once there the Lady Raiders realized they were encountering one tough golf course that had lateral hazard areas and out of bounds surronding every hole and was playing to a length of just under 5500 yards.  Through all the ups and downs of the day the Lady Raides managed a team score of 375 in route to a 9th place finish out of 18 teams.

The Lady Raiders were led by Nadine Innes whom shot a 6 over par 78 and finished in a tie for 8th place individually.  Kayley Hughes struck the ball solidly all day and was able to avoid penalty strokes in route to shooting a round of 94.  Morgan Clark and Mollie Collins both overcame rough starts on the front nine to recover on the back nine and post scores of 98 and 105.  Savanna Innes played a solid round in shooting 106 and Morgan Adams completed the team scoring with a 122.

All the Lady Raiders began on the more difficult front nine at Glenmary Country Club and all the players got off to a slow start but each player rallied on the final nine holes to post a back nine team score of 175 which is a very strong score on 2700 yard course.

The Lady Raiders are next in action on Thursday August 30 agaisnt last years Regional Tournament runner-up Owen County Rebels at Wheatley Golf Course in Owen County, Kentucky.
