Nelson County Invitational Tournament

The Ryle Lady Raiders varsity team traveled to Bardstown, Kentucky in order to compete in the Nelson County Lady Cardinal Invitational.  There were several difficult aspects for the team to overcome; 1) it was their first competative outing of the season, 2) none of the players competing for the team had ever played the Woodlawn course at Bardstown Country Club, and 3) the team was playing without their best player as Nadine Innes was not competing.  All of those issues aside the five varsity players competing went out and played hard to achieve the goals that Coach Thornton had set for this outing which were to play a smart, strategic golf game, keep the ball in play, and keep control of their putting.

Morgan Clark led the Lady Raiders team by overcoming a difficult 10 on an early par-5 and keeping positive attitude to post a round of 92.  Mollie Collins had her career first 18 hole round of under 100 by shoting a 97.  Kayley Hughes battled all day long to post a score of 99.  Finally, our two young newcomers both showed what a positive future the Lady Raiders have when Savannah Innes shot a 106 and Morgan Adams shot 107.  The Lady Raiders posted a team score of 394 and finished in 10th place overall.

Next up for the Lady Raiders is the Grant County Invitational on Tuesday, March 31st.  This is an important early season tournament as most of the schools that the Lady Raiders will battle in our regional tournament should be attending this tournament.  Players will begin their day with a shotgun start at Eagle Creek County Club at 8:30 a.m.
