First Development Squad Match a Success

The Develpment Squad made their first appearance as a team today at Kenton County Golf Course against the Varsity Roster of Holy Cross and began to show that the Ryle Girls Golf Program will stay one of the top programs for many years to come.  The final score of the match was Holy Cross 219 to Ryle Lady Raiders 221 and everyone should remember that Holy Cross used only members from their varsity team.  The Lady Raiders Development Squad would match them shot for shot during this round and show Coach Thornton how bright the future is for the Ryle golf team.  The Development Squad was lead by Morgan Adams shooting a 53 on the Pioneer course at Kenton County and she did this while playing in the first grouping made up of Varsity Players.  Sydney Dunigan added a 60, Lyndsey Jackson a 62, and Chloe Ruark a 67 and each of these young ladies performed very well and did an excellent job of handling the stress of their first every competative High School golf match.  Now the curtain has been pulled upon and each of the Development Squad players have seen what it is like to play in a match and with the fear and nerves being out of the way they each can focus on the improvements they individually and collectively want to make.  Their next team match will be August 24th against Mason County and I think everyone believes they will lower their individual score at least 3 shots each and the team score will come down about 10 shots.  If these goals are reached these young ladies would be shooting scores that would defeat more than half of the varsity teams in our region.

In a small side not to today's action Varsity team member Mollie Collins traveled with the Development Squad to gain some experience and lend a hand to our younger players and in the course of events she shoot a 46 on the front nine of the Pioneer Course which made her the Individual Medalist for this match.  This is Mollie's first Medalist honor of her career and we are all proud of both the way she played today and the way in which she came to help out the younger squad.
